Bullwinkle and the Ice Cube AKA 2 for 2

Hello friends family and anyone else. We have spent the last 6 days on the north end of the Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland. The RV park we were in had no WIFI or even cell coverage. The drive from Cow Head to Quirpon provided us with some outstanding views and changes in road side vegetation. As we drove there would be a marsh then scrub bent knarly trees then sand dunes then rock then a forest and this was only about 15 kilometres of road.

"The Arch"

Our first stop was at the Arch. The arch was formed 100's of thousands of years ago and the wind and wave action has been working on it ever since, there use to be two more arches but they have fallen in the last 100 years.
June saw the Land Bridge in Aruba before it collapsed and it was very similar to the Arches, the main difference was the Aruba one was one of the seven natural wonders of the world,,,maybe they should have taken the ferry to Newfoundland.
Three hours later Kelly fulfilled one of his promises to June as we saw this gal on the side of the road.
The moose are almost silver on this part of Gros Morne Park.

The next day we saw another moose with a calf. They were quite far away so the picture isn't great.

Cow Moose and her Calf.

About an hour and a half later we arrived in the St. Anthony area heading for Quirpon and promise number 2 was fulfilled and over the next couple of days we saw around 40 Icebergs.

All of the Icebergs are from Greenland and can take up to 2 years to make it to Newfoundland. We saw one large Iceberg the shape of a loaf of bread completely collapse on itself. It sounded like the roar of thunder as it imploded. Unfortunately all of the photos are very over exposed so they are not worth posting. After spending time up here we can understand why people like living here......in the summer, we will never understand living here in the winter!!!!

  1. We were there in early August. It was 4 degrees C. We were wondering why you'd want to live there any time of year! I think it was warmer than 15 only one day of our trek around the Rock. Been called 'Dearie' or 'Love' yet?
